Please note AX2CL will be used only on the 25th Anzac Day and then at midnight we go to club call VK2CL until 0300 zulu the 26th.There is no iota number for Bare Island as it's very close to the mainland.

Update #6

The last member to join the team is vk2rq Matt. The packing of all the equipment will be finished tonight as we have a very early start in the morning transporting all the gear to the island and setting up.

We hope to be on air around 11am with 4 stations.

Update #5

Only 4 days to go before our next adventure to Bare island. We welcome the 12th Haraoa club member Ken vk2bbq to the team. We have a club meeting this week to get everything in order plus we will check all radio gear and antennas heading over to the island for the event(mini Dx'pedition )

The inspection went very well on the island and we have a good idea about antenna positions and setting up the 4 stations.

Greg vk2fjgw Haraoa club member is the latest to join the team which brings us to 11 operators including 3 cw ops.

The preparation is on going with some of the moxon beams needing to be checked as they have not being used since ZL9HR in the Sub-Antarctic.

Great news three more club members joining the team for Bare Island 2014.

Al vk2kam , Irene vk2firn ,Tony vk2ho bring the team to 10 operators. Tommy will be on the island tomorrow.

Update #2 UPDATE #2The haraoa team is coming together as it's a hard weekend for some members due to the Anzac day marches.
We welcome club member Patrick vk2pn to the team.

Team is Tommy vk2ir , Nicholas vk2fnic, Binu vk2bng, Raffy vk2rf, Bruce vk2tj , Jason vk2fmad, Patrick vk2pn which brings the team to 7.

Tommy will be on the island next week to inspect the operating area and antenna locations. There will be more photos and video early next week.

Info about visiting the island

NPWS run tours of
the Island every Sunday 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30pm. Tours about 45min long. Tickets
can be purchased on the day at the La Perouse Museum. Adults $15, Conc$13,

Bare Hand Aboriginal
Workshops and Markets operate on the Island First Sunday of the Month
9:30-3:30pm entry is $2. Organised by First Hand Solutions a not for profit
Aboriginal Corporation. There is a Smoking Ceremony, traditional dances,
food, artefacts, jewellery for sale and craft and skills based workshops
plus many more interesting things. Funds raised are put back into the local

The Battle of Bare Island Sunday 18th May 10am -4pm. This is
an annual event on the island which includes battle re-enactments, cannon and
musket firing, historical displays and more. Tickets purchased at the gate.
